Biography
Lily McConnell is a painter and visual artist based out of New York. They were born in the Brox, New York in 2002. Studying painting and historic preservation at Salve Regina University, they have studied under many acclaimed artists, including but not limited to Ernest Joliceur, and Gerald Perino. Lily has worked in several museum settings, including both art and historic house museums. They have received several awards for their work, including Class Artist at Lakeland High school, and Best in Show at Salve Regina’s “Best of Salve Students” exhibition. Their work has been on display in Salve’s Hamilton Gallery on several occasions. As well as having work on show, Lily also has a dedicated group of individuals who follow their work and achievements.
Their work encompasses what it means to be seen by others, often depicting what society deems as ‘ugly’ or ‘taboo’. They have created several collections ranging from studies of the human body, to depictions of gender identity through the symbolism of clowns. Lily has worked in several mediums, but oil paint is a common favorite.
